Blizzard not listening to their employees and treating them less than human? *shocker*
reminder that return-to-office movements are scams run by megalomaniacs who don't like giving you control over your own life, and lazy incompetent managers who haven't updated their playbook since the 90s. "not my call / just doing my job" is not an excuse, you're either with it or you're against it and for a lot of people it's make or break. Sounds like Ybarra doesn't care if they cut some staff.
Every year this company seems less and less fun to work for
I don't know what else we expected from the Xbox guy. Mike Ybarra wasn't ever fit to be in charge, even less so since his second half left the company not to long after being promoted. I know his pay isn't anything compared to Bobby Kotick, but wow was that comment of his stupid.I know that for many perfection can't come soon enough, but damn it, we were on a good streak. Put someone in charge whose soul is actually in the games they're making, and hopefully all this nonsense will end.
Man I really hate people who cry about having to working in a office and not just sit at home all day. An them complaining about talent ect. is them just using it as an excuses for they can continue to sit home. Which if you ever had a job where you got to work from home. You would know just how much that crap is abused. Bruh I would clock in for my job and go back to bed, wake up later and then in like the last hour or so of my job. I would just cram everything in I could, and what didn't get finished got dragged on. An if the boss called about late work. Just make up some lame excuses about email wasn't received, Power dropped, internet went out ect. An yall can say well thats just you ect. Bruh everyone I knew who was working from home did the same thing and worse. I literally have never met a person who worked at home that didn't abuses it in 1 shape or another. Hell 1 friend im pretty sure he screwed if he ever has to go back to work in an office. Cause he would wake up clock in and literally just drink and get &*!@ faced the whole day lol.
i'd say mike should be sacked but I doubt anyone would do better. as long as they're beholden to bobby's board and the deranged investors blizzard is goneand it has been since 2008
This isn't a defense of Ybarra, but these decisions are still coming from above him. Even if you wanted to say something different he couldn't without him being pushed out. It's how things work in the corporate world. It is very disappointing to hear these things coming from him because he kind of seemed like he would make better decisions, be the for the employee person. Worth pointing out that other game companies have already done the return to work. How they handled that and what that looked like may have been different. Either way per usual, none of this was handled well.
Gotta make that $400m for Bobby from somewhere.
work at office - shadowlandswork at home - dragonflightoh boi rough times are ahead, not only are employees back to potential cube crawling or other forms off harassement but also for many i can imagine soul crushing communiting which is unpaid and takes away free time which only leads to more stress. Thanks blizzard
I'm sure someone like Muffinus will enjoy the new policy to go back to work in their officer after moving to another state.
Oh look Blizzard continues to be as $%^&ty and utterly inhumane, even to their own workers, as always. @#$% you Blizzard upper management.
"If you don't like it quit" is certainly one way to approach this situation lmao. Just how tone deaf do you have to be.
dont even play any blizzard games anymore it's actually pathetic how dogwater wow and their other titles have become compared to their prime
"One of 90% of employers returning to the office"Anyone who believes that doesn't work in tech. All those 'gloom and doom' layoffs don't affect many skilled positions. All of these companies are still trying to hire people who want to work in the office and when they can't find anyone (and they can't) they'll just say "nobody wants to work anymore". With no plans to address talent drain, they are going to lose quite a few people to non-boomer mentality companies who actually let people work wherever they want (including an office if they so choose). It's mind boggling how a company with such little morale and such angry employees would make such a decision.
